INTERESTED IN WRITING FOR BOXIANA?
Boxiana is a forthcoming annual boxing anthology, which intends to feature thought-provoking, inspiring and interesting journalism related to the pugilistic arts. We will also be publishing articles online in our blog, although articles selected for the print anthology will not be published online and vice versa. If you are interested in submitting an article for possible publication, please read the following guidelines.

WHAT TYPE OF ARTICLES ARE WE INTERESTED IN?
In short, we are interested in any article with a connection to boxing. It might be an interview with a current or former boxer, a historical analysis of a particular fighter or era, a personal reflection on your own connection to boxing - anything at all and written in any style, including non-fiction or fiction and poetry. As long as there is some connection to boxing (or, indeed, any combat sport) we will consider your work! We are also interested in using boxing-related artwork on our covers and inside our issues, so we also welcome submissions from artists and graphic designers. What matters most is that your work is written or created with passion, commitment, care and love.

HOW LONG SHOULD ARTICLES BE?
There is no upper or lower word-count limit for contributions. We encourage the sort of lengthy, in-depth articles of several thousand words that you do not often see in print journalism or online, but this is not a set requirement. In short, take as many or as few words as you want to tell your story! When it comes to profit-share, word count is, however, taken into consideration. (See: DO WE PAY OUR WRITERS?)

WHAT TYPE OF ARTICLES ARE WE NOT INTERESTED IN?
One thing we are not interested in publishing is boxing news stories, or factual reports of recent fights or fight cards. Boxiana is a journal for in=depth and thought-provoking writing related to boxing, not a news source. Print publications Boxing NewsBoxing Monthly and The Ring, as well as countless websites, cover boxing news in depth and detail - that is not the aim of Boxiana.

DO WE PAY OUR WRITERS?
Yes, unlike many 21st century content providers, we do pay our writers a set fee for any submission that we accept for publication. However, we are a small independent publication that cannot afford high up-front rates. Therefore, this fee is complemented by a profit-share for each issue. 50% of the profits from each issue will be shared between the contributing writers, with the exact percentage share determined by the word-count of contributing writers' work. Writers are encouraged to help publicise each issue of Boxiana via word-of-mouth, email and social media in order to drive sales. The more issues we sell, the higher the potential profit-share for contributors!

HOW DO I SUBMIT A PITCH OR ARTICLE FOR CONSIDERATION?
Just email the editor Luke Williams at lgw007@yahoo.com with your idea or a draft of your article. Work from any writer will be considered on its own merits, rather than on the basis of whether you have or haven't been published before. We welcome submissions from young writers or part-time writers, as well as experienced wordsmiths. It is your passion and ability that matter most to us. Although we will consider publishing extracts from longer works, such as books, we will not consider publishing articles that have already appeared in print or online.
